Let us praise God’s name in song

Music is such an important part of the worship experience and also in our daily walk with the Lord. Most of us listen to the radio or other forms of music during the day. Music can cheer us up, relax us, excite us or a myriad of other emotions. Music can be understood by people of all backgrounds for it is truly an international language; which is why it is such a powerful medium. It can reach in and touch our soul and sometimes seems to go right up to heaven to the heart of God.

Psalm 98:4
Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth, burst into jubilant song with music

Psalm 81:2
Begin the music, strike the tambourine, play the melodious harp and lyre.

Music prepares our heart and soul to receive from God or sometimes He will speak to us through the music itself. There are songs that I listen to that almost immediately puts me in “Praise and Worship mode”or will prepare my spirit to receive whatever God has for me.

Psalm 92:1
A psalm. A song. For the Sabbath day. It is good to praise the LORD and make music to your name, O Most High,

I feel that one of the most important things we do is come together every week and experience the power of God’s presence; and part of that is through the power of music. People from all walks of life join as one to engage in praise and worship as a family. It is here that we are refreshed and recharged. Our primary goal is to exalt God in everything we do together. I believe that Praise and worship can be a pathway to a personal encounter with the Lord and we should desire  to help others experience the presence of God and develop a life of praise and worship.

Psalm 98:4 Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth, burst into jubilant song with music

Praise and worship is not just a song service where we sing songs. It is not an outward performance. It has to come from the heart. It is always better to sing songs to God rather than about Him. There are lots of songs that sing about God. And I believe there is a time where we need to declare God and make his praises known, but I believe it is more important to sing songs that minister to the Lord. We can make a song personal simply by changing some of the words around and saying you instead of Him.

Ephesians 5:19
Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord,

Praise and worship are two of the most important aspects of the Christian walk. It is through praise and worship that we as Christians draw near to God. Psalm 100:4 says that we enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise. Psalms 22 says he that He inhabits the praises of His people.

  1. Nice post. I learn something more challenging on different blogs everyday. It will always be stimulating to read content from other writers and practice a little something from their store. I’d prefer to use some with the content on my blog whether you don’t mind. Natually I’ll give you a link on your web blog. Thanks for sharing.
